HolyGhost Homeschoolers Recognition Night
Praise the Lord!
Last Monday , April 19 was the First Annual HolyGhost Homeschoolers Recognition Night! I was so excited!
The HolyGhost Homeschoolers is the name our homeschool group in the church. We co-op different subjects together, we attend field trips together, and do Christmas parties and different activities as a collective group. We formed the group 2 years ago, but this was the first year we did a Recognition Night.
The ceremony was beautiful and the kids had such a great time. This year, I was voted "President" of the group. As the president of our homeschool group, I had the honor of organizing the recognition night for the homeschoolers. Basically, each individual school ( in most cases the "mom" ) turned in the accomplishments for their students for the year. Awards received for the night included, Bible Quizzing Participation, Field Day, Math Excellence, Reading Achievement, and Spanish Level 1 Completion, among other awards.
The special guest speaker was my pastor's wife, Sis Griffin. She has homeschooled all 6 of her children and is currently enrolled in college to finish her bachelor's in Elementary Education. She did a great job encouraging the kids to always keep God first in their studies and all that they do in life.
My children received several honors that evening:
S.R. , my oldest girl (4 years old) - Bible Quizzing Gold Award for memorizing the most verses from the Book of Acts , Spanish Level 1 Completion ( she also completed the adult spanish conversation course with me ! ) , Math Excellence and Reading Achievement ( she will be in the 1st grade in the fall at 5 years old! She is super excited!)
L., my middle girl ( 3 years old) - Bible Quizzing Bronze Award for memorizing 30% of the required verses from the Book of Acts, Spanish Level 1 Completion ( she also completed the adult spanish conversation course with me! Her spanish is better than her english! ), Math Participation and Reading Achievement (She will be enrolled in kindergarten in the fall, she is doing very well reading 3 letter words! I am so proud of her.)
And Last but certainly not least,
B.W (1 year old) - He is successfully participating in potty training! Now that may or may not sound like an achievement to you, but in OUR House, we are COMPLETELY potty trained by 23 months! So, he is pretty much on track. I like to make that a milestone for the beginning of their academic career. I'll post more on that later :)
Overall, the night was a dream come true. I am still in awe that it all happened and the ceremony really was beautiful. God truly had His hand in everything. We sang the National Anthem and recited the Pledge of Allegiance. It was really an emotional night for me.
Ciao!
